Ahhh….Spring is in the air and summer is around the corner.  Along with the usual sights and sounds of the season come the sights and sounds of the car show.  The revving of the muscle car, the elegance of the classic car, the nostalgia of your favorite television car star, the wacky concept car, or the unattainable car purchase of your youth; all of these can be seen at your favorite local outdoor car show.  Your local car show is an affordable family day event that is not only fun for all, but continues the American love affair of the automobile.

I’m sure you can remember the first car show you attended with your father.  The careful examination of each car, displayed with pride by the owner, and the specific details on each model and the years to follow of that model.  The grill, the taillights, the fenders, the wheels, the interior, the dashboard; all had modifications that denoted a specific year of innovation and style.  If you grew up the child of an autoworker, these were the things you talked about, as if you had a say in the design.

The local car show was a time to spend with family and a time to appreciate what our fathers did for work.  Their work was important and this was a way to share it with the family.  Besides, if your local car shows organizer was savvy, the show somehow always ended up in the lot of the local ice cream shop.  Not only could you spend time with your dad, thinking he built every car there, you could also get a cone.
